The Demand Control Schema (DC-S) offers interpreters a powerful way to examine the complexities of our work and move beyond thinking of decisions as simply “right” or “wrong.”In this interactive workshop, Lara & Tiffany will guide participants through the essential components of DC-S, including Environmental, Interpersonal, Paralinguistic, and Intrapersonal
demands, demand constellations, controls, and positive and negative consequences.
Participants will also explore the incredibly useful liberal to conservative spectrum and discover how different controls can be effective in different ways depending on the demands of an assignment. By considering multiple possible responses and the consequences each may create,interpreters can develop a more thoughtful and flexible approach to ethical decision making.
